1. Metallic silicon refers to pure silicon products with a silicon content of greater than or equal to 98.5%. The three impurity contents of iron, aluminum, and calcium (arranged in order) are divided into subcategories, such as 553, 441, 331, 2202, etc. Among them, 553 Metallic Silicon represents that the iron content of this variety of metallic silicon is less than or equal to 0.5%, the aluminum content is less than or equal to 0.5%, and the calcium content is less than or equal to 0.3%; 331 Metallic Silicon represents that the iron content is less than or equal to 0.3%, the aluminum content is less than or equal to 0.3%, and the calcium content is less than or equal to 0.3%. Less than or equal to 0.1%, and so on. Due to customary reasons, 2202 metal silicon is also abbreviated as 220, which means calcium is less than or equal to 0.02%.

The main uses of industrial silicon: Industrial silicon is used as an additive for non-iron-based alloys. Industrial silicon is also used as an alloying agent for silicon steel with strict requirements and as a deoxidizer for smelting special steel and non-ferrous alloys. After a series of processes, industrial silicon can be pulled into single crystal silicon for use in the electronics industry and in the chemical industry for silicon, etc. Therefore, it is known as the magic metal and has a wide range of uses.

2. Ferrosilicon is made from coke, steel scraps, quartz (or silica) as raw materials and smelted in a submerged arc furnace. Silicon and oxygen easily combine to form silica. Therefore, ferrosilicon is often used as a deoxidizer in steelmaking. At the same time, because SiO2 releases a large amount of heat when it is generated, it is also beneficial to increase the temperature of molten steel while deoxidizing.

Ferrosilicon is used as an alloying element. It is widely used in low alloy structural steel, bonded steel, spring steel, bearing steel, heat-resistant steel and electrical silicon steel. Ferrosilicon is often used as a reducing agent in ferroalloy and chemical industries. The silicon content reaches 95%-99%. Pure silicon is commonly used to make single crystal silicon or prepare non-ferrous metal alloys.

Usage: Ferrosilicon is widely used in the steel industry, foundry industry and other industries.

Ferrosilicon is an essential deoxidizer in the steelmaking industry. In steelmaking, ferrosilicon is used for precipitation deoxidation and diffusion deoxidation. Brick iron is also used as an alloying agent in steelmaking. Adding a certain amount of silicon to steel can significantly improve the strength, hardness and elasticity of the steel, increase the magnetic permeability of the steel, and reduce the hysteresis loss of transformer steel. General steel contains 0.15%-0.35% silicon, structural steel contains 0.40%-1.75% silicon, tool steel contains 0.30%-1.80% silicon, spring steel contains 0.40%-2.80% silicon, and stainless acid-resistant steel contains Silicon 3.40% ~ 4.00%, heat-resistant steel contains silicon 1.00% ~ 3.00%, silicon steel contains silicon 2% ~ 3% or higher. In the steelmaking industry, each ton of steel consumes approximately 3 to 5kg of 75% ferrosilicon.
